Tree Planting #1
April 5 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
We will have 2 tree plantings this year with the Goose Creek Assoc.
The dates will be April 5th and the 12th, 2025.
NO CHILDREN under the age of 14 please. This is heavy lifting, hard labor. Only high schoolers and older please.
Details:
We are looking forward to planting with you all on Saturday, April 5th and I am following up with the final details. We are monitoring the weather closely and we will still plant in light rain and passing showers. However, we will cancel/postpone the planting if a deluge or lightning is expected.
Our planting location will be Fiddler’s Green and the GPS address is below, but does not get you to the farm entrance. Please follow the additional driving instructions. There will also be signs and volunteers to guide you.
Date:
Saturday, April 5th, 2025
GPS Address:
34767 Fiddlers Green Ln,
Middleburg, VA 20117
Additional Driving Instructions:
Continue on Unison Road until you see the Goose Creek Association sign at the entrance to Fiddler’s Green.
Turn onto property at the sign and proceed down the driveway where additional signs and volunteers will direct you. See attached a map with the entrance identified in white.
Proposed Schedule:
10 AM: Volunteers arrive
10:15 AM: Tree planting demo and education on why we do riparian plantings
10:30 AM: Tree planting begins
12:00PM: GCA provides boxed lunches
12:30 PM: Planting resumes
~2:30 PM: Volunteers depart
Lunch
We will provide a variety (including veggie) of boxed subway lunches for participants (example: sandwich, chips, apple, cookie, & water), but people are welcome to bring their own.
In the case of allergies, it is best for the participant to bring their own lunch, but if necessary, please let us know and we will try to accommodate specific needs.
We will also have plenty of water available throughout the day.
Paperwork:
Please have everyone sign the attached liability waiver and bring it with them to the planting site on Saturday. We will have extra copies on hand, but it is always easier if the paperwork is completed in advance. I will have community service forms for interested volunteers if they wish to receive credit for their hours.
Additional Details:
There will be a porta-john on site.
Please remember that we will plant in light rain and only cancel/postpone in the case of heavy rain or lightning.
We highly recommend that participants wear waterproof/old boots or shoes since we are working near water.
Bring work gloves and dress warmly in layers, remembering that layers can always be removed.
Remember to check for ticks when you get home.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and thank you again for working together with us to improve the water quality of the Goose Creek Watershed!
