Cascades Trash Bash

Cascades Trash Bash

October 17, 2021 12:30 am - 5:00 pm

Quarterpath Trace Community Center

20430 Quarterpath Trace Circle, just off Algonkian Pkwy, east of Algonkian's intersection with Cascades Pkwy

Celebrate Fall and enjoy the beautiful Virginia foliage with your family and neighbors by making a difference in your community!
We will provide vests, bags, grabbers, fruit & water/lemonade served in an environmentally-friendly manner (no bottled water here please!)
Since it’s usually muddy and some of us will be cleaning up close to streams, please remember to dress appropiate: waterproof boots, waders or sturdy shoes. We have reusable gloves to share but we highly recommend to bring yours (They can be your gardening gloves) Also, remember to bring your own reusable water bottle! Following our mission, this will be a “Plastic bottle free zone” 🚯 We never ever provide water bottles in any of our events so please be prepared 😉 (after picking up your first dozens you’ll understand why 😔)
In an effort to reduce our ecological footprint we are not providing t-shirts for this event (We’ve seen so many t-shirts at donation centers that end in landfills that we are trying to figure out better giveaways 😢) However, we encourage you to bring your KLB t-shirt from previous events and we will also have safety vests for visibility 👍🏻
We will be collecting FOOD for Dulles South Food Pantry and they are in need of these items:
✅Shaped Pasta Noodles
✅Tomato Paste
✅White Beans
✅ChickPeas/Garbanzo Beans
✅Canned Chicken
✅Canned Green Beans
✅Canned Corn
✅Canned Peas
✅Bar Soap
If you can contribute with some of these that will be very much appreciated but it is not a requirement to participate 🙂
We will also be collecting gently used sneakers for those in need (No baby or toddler sneakers please!) We’ll make sure they get a second chance to be useful either for somebody else or to be properly recycled
The Cascades Trash Bash depends on a handful of volunteers that go above and beyond by joining the event crew to help with pre-event activities, help setup the tables, assist other volunteers during the event, and help pack things up at the end. Please let us know if you’re interested in joining our crew!
Since the Cascades Trash Bash & Food Drive is a community service event, it most likely qualifies for community service hours for your school, scout troop, or other organization. Just be sure to bring your forms for us to sign. We also have great badges for the Scouts!
We’ll be meeting at the Quarterpath Trace Community Center, at 20430 Quarterpath Trace Circle, Sterling, VA 20165, which is at the intersection of Algonkian Pkwy and Quarterpath Trace Circle. RAIN DAY Oct. 24 same time ☔️
Hope to see everybody there!
