DESCRIPTION:The Sterling Foundation\, the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and Sterling Community invites you to join us on Earth Day 2023 for a Stream Clean-up. Help us remove trash and litter from waterways that feed the Cabin Branch Stream in the Sterling Park area. Easy access to the cleaning area and shallow water makes this event appropriate for all ages. All children\, including students and youth groups\, ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Group ratio recommendation is 1 adult per 8 students/children. \n\n\n\nTrash bags will be provided. Gloves\, grabbers and team leader vest will be provided on a first come\, first serve basis. Rubber boots\, gloves\, long sleeves and long pants are strongly recommended. Clean water for reusable water bottles\, a hand washing station and some snacks\, lunch will be provided at 2:30 pm. DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS FULL! REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING OUR TREE PLANTING ON THE 22ND. We will again be planting trees at the Good stone Inn farm.  She’ll need to know how many people are in your group. They will provide the trees. Not for young children. 13 and older please.  \n\n\n\nWe recommend that volunteers wear waterproof/old boots or shoes since we are working near water.  We also encourage everyone to bring work gloves and dress warmly in layers because temperatures in April can change throughout the day.       \n\n\n\nWe will have community service forms that volunteers can fill out at the end of the day for us to sign if they wish to receive official credit for their community service hours.   \n\n\n\nThere will be a porta-john on site or bathroom accommodation on site.   \n\n\n\nLunch will be provided for everyone.  If there are specific allergies or preferences\, please let us know when we confirm our volunteer numbers the week before.   \n\n\n\nWe will plant in light rain and only cancel/postpone in the case of heavy or rain.  Tentative rain dates are April 16th.

DESCRIPTION:The Keep Loudoun Beautiful Purcellville Trash Clean-Up is back! There will be one cleanup date with 2 time slots. \n\n\n\nThe cleanup will be held Saturday\, April 15\, 8am – 10am and on Saturday\, April 15\,  12 pm – 2 pm. \n\n\n\nI will assign you the area of Purcellville that your group will be responsible for. If you have particular requests regarding your preferred area\, based on age of group members\, transportation restrictions\, etc.\, I will certainly work with you to honor those requests as closely as possible. At your chosen time\, your group will travel to your designated area and pick up all the trash you can find. As you fill trash bags\, you will leave them beside the road for pick up. Once you finish your area (it should take only an hour or two)\, you’re free to leave! Thank you so much to those who have helped in years past. 😉 \n\n\n\nDuring the month of April\, as part of the Keep Loudoun Beautiful campaign\, the Taylorstown community will once again be picking up trash along the roadways. \n\n\n\nWe need volunteers to help with this effort. Orange bags and safety vests will be provided in a green bin at Tami’s driveway at 12969 Taylorstown Rd. Come by anytime to pick up supplies. \n\n\n\nYou can clean up an area anytime through April. Text or email me so I can tell you what roads are available. (see bottom) or sooner if you like.  \n\n\n\nI’ll take anyone who wants to clean-up Lovettsville Rd starting and including McKimmey’s landing at the Point of Rocks bridge to Downey Mill Rd. The route number is 672. It is a bit dangerous and tough. DESCRIPTION:Join Harper’s Ferry Paddling for a cleanup: \n\n\n\nSunday April 2nd at 12pm. \n\n\n\nPotoma Wayside \n\n\n\nRoad side clean up or canoe/kayak (that you bring) clean up event. \n\n\n\nThe plan is to pick up road side trash anytime the week before 4/3. This is a VA Collection so anything along US 340 between the Potomac Bridge and WV state line is included. The river bank and the flood zone that is Potoma Wayside Park the US 340 Road side and the Banks of Piney Creek on the other side of 340 is the focus of this clean up. Anyone can collect trash in this area the week before the 4/3 bag it and set it in one of the collection locations and it will get hauled out. Setting a group date and time for those that would like to make an event out of it. Please if you use this takeout consider spending some time pulling out so trash that will end up in the river unless we remove it before it gets to the river. I’ll have bags for collection at site on day of event. Otherwise pleas bring a bag and fill it and set it at a collection site and it will be picked up. \n\n\n\nRiver and Trail will open up parking on there lot to us. As well as supplying collection bags/and some man power. \n\n\n\nI’ll have some reflective vests for roadside collectors. DESCRIPTION:“Keep Leesburg Beautiful” Campaign Begins April 1 \n\n\n\n\n\nThe Town of Leesburg’s annual “Keep Leesburg Beautiful” campaign will begin on April 1 and will run through the entire month. An official cleanup event will take place on Saturday\, April 22\, at Raflo Park\, beginning at 10 a.m. \n\n\n\nKeep Leesburg Beautiful is an opportunity for the public to get involved in cleaning up the Town. Residents\, neighborhood and community groups\, and businesses are encouraged to participate by forming teams to collect litter along roadsides\, stream beds\, and other public common areas. \n\n\n\nGroups and individuals interested in participating should visit the Town of Leesburg website at www.leesburgva.gov/KLB for details about how to volunteer and suggestions for litter collection locations. The Town of Leesburg will provide safety vests\, gloves and trash bags and will collect the filled bags and larger items like tires and appliances. \n\n\n\nAnother way in which residents can get involved is by doing storm sewer inlet inventories. Doing an inventory is as easy as taking a walk around your neighborhood. The Public Works and Capital Projects Department will provide maps and inventory forms. Volunteers note on the inventory forms any inlets that are blocked or need repair and return the forms to the town. SUMMARY:The Trash Pick-Up Club of Ashburn "TPC Ashburn"
DESCRIPTION:The 5th Annual Trash Pick-Up Club of Ashburn Trash Pick-Up 1 Mile Walk and 5k Run is on Saturday 10/22/22 at 9am EST in “Old Town” Ashburn\, VA (At the W&OD Parking lot at Milepost 27.5 (20702 Ashburn Rd\, Ashburn VA 20147). \n\n\n\nThis event is free to all. Free T-shirts for the first 100 participants (multiple colors available). Participants will also be provided gloves\, eco-friendly trash bags and trash grabber tools. There are 3 main walking course routes to choose from: The “Green” aka “junior course”\, the “Blue” and the “Yellow”. All walking courses are 1 to 2 miles. The 3+ mile Red course will be run after the walks (likely starting around 10:30am) for anyone who would like to try trash pick-up running aka Plogging. \n\n\n\nCourses will be well marked and route leaders will be available. We are Not picking up along roads. All routes finish under a finish line archway made of old Amazon boxes!! Participant medals made from old Amazon boxes for all who participate presented to you by Chewbacca and Sully from Monsters\, Inc.There will be a costume contest with 3 winners. \n\n\n\nClick here to register:

DESCRIPTION:Registration is closed- we are full Thank you! \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCelebrate fall and enjoy the beautiful Virginia foliage with your family\, neighbors\, scout troop\, or school group and make a difference in your community by cleaning up litter around the Cascades area and Sugarland Run flood plain. \n\n\n\nWhen: Sunday October 16th\, 2022 starting at 12:30 pm. \n\n\n\nWhere: We’ll be meeting at the Quarterpath Trace Community Center\, at 20430 Quarterpath Trace Circle\, Sterling\, VA 20165\, which is at the intersection of Algonkian Pkwy and Quarterpath Trace Circle. Restrooms will be available at the Quarterpath Trace Community Center. \n\n\n\nThis year we are requiring registration for everyone who’d like to participate. We are trying to assign areas beforehand to be more prepared and help things move smoother. \n\n\n\nWe will provide safety vests\, bags\, grabbers (we will ask small groups to share 1 grabber)\, fruit\, and water/lemonade served in an environmentally friendly manner\, so please remember to bring your own reusable water bottle! In line with our mission\, this will be a “plastic bottle-free zone” so be prepared; we never ever provide single use bottled water bottles at any of our events (after picking up your first few dozen\, you’ll understand why). \n\n\n\nWe are especially looking for able-bodied volunteers 16 years or older\, to help in the floodplain area where the bulk of the trash and litter will be. The floodplain area is muddy and close to streams\, so waterproof boots\, waders\, or sturdy shoes are a must. We do go into the water that is waist high. We also need people who will help haul full bags of trash/recycling and tires from the flood plan to the pickup truck we will have nearby. \n\n\n\nFor volunteers cleaning along roadways\, please wear proper footwear for walking. We have reusable gloves to share but we highly recommend bringing yours (they can be your gardening gloves). \n\n\n\nScout troops– We have KLB badges for the Scouts! If you are a Girl Scout or Boy Scout troop\, please indicate in the sign up your troop number\, age of troop\, and the number of kids and adults participating. \n\n\n\nREUSE YOUR T-SHIRTS FROM PRIOR YEARSIn an effort to reduce our ecological footprint\, we are not printing new t-shirts for this event. But we will have t-shirts from past years that you can take that are brand new\, never used. We’ve seen so many t-shirts at donation centers that end in landfills so we are trying to figure out better giveaways. However\, we do encourage you to bring your KLB t-shirt from previous events you have attended. We will also have safety vests for visibility. \n\n\n\nFOOD DRIVEWe will be collecting food for Dulles South Food Pantry\, and they are particularly in need of these items (but any non-perishable\, not expired food or toiletries will be accepted). SUMMARY:Potomac River Cleanup 2022
DESCRIPTION:Registration is open!!    \n\n\n\nThis year’s Potomac River cleanup is set for Sunday\, September 11th from 8:45 am to 2:00 pm\, rain or shine.  (There will be NO RAIN DATE).  \n\n\n\nJoin us as we paddle down the Potomac River collecting tires and litter found along and in the water! We will meet at Riverside on the Potomac (44337 Spinks Ferry Rd\, Leesburg VA 20176).  \n\n\n\nFrom there\, our favorite outfitter\, River Trails\, will bring us\, and the canoes\, by bus to the put-in point. From the put-in point\, we will paddle down the Potomac River picking up litter. The trip will end back at Riverside on the Potomac where we will enjoy a pizza lunch.  \n\n\n\nThe event fee is $30 per person. There will be 2 persons per canoe.  \n\n\n\nThe event fee includes the canoe\,paddle safety vest\, river guide\, cleanup supplies\, and a pizza lunch. The event fee helps us to defray the cost of putting together the event and to avoid “no-shows”. Requirements:  \n\n\n\nMust be at least 18 years old to participate. Wear clothing and sturdy footwear that are weather appropriate and can get wet and dirty. No sandals\, open-toed shoes\, or bare feet. A change of clothes left in your car is recommended for the end of the cleanup event. Bring a reusable water bottle\, sunscreen\, a towel\, a hat\, gloves\, and rain gear for use while afloat. If you bring a camera\, cell phone\, car keys\, or other items needing protection\, bring a waterproof “dry” bag or container.  **This will be a plastic water bottle-free event.** All participants need to download\, complete\, sign\, and return the liability waiver form. NO EXCEPTIONS.
